This book by Ross Bentley is the brand new update in his Speed Secret series, and is somewhat a compilation of the six books in the series.
The $2.2 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport made a rare appearance driven in by Formula One drive Butch Leitzinger. As you might imagine, swarms of people hovered over it trying to figure out what it was. It was nearly impossible to get clean photos without getting in the way. Can't blame them though. When was the last time you could get close enough to touch a hyper exotic? Among the other attendees were cars past and present from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar, and Rolls Royce, along with NSXs, Corvettes, and many other makes sprinkled in for good measure. Nothing beats getting up close to 150+ rare and beautiful cars on a summer morning!
It's almost like the entire ancestry of the modern BMW 3- and 5- series came out to enjoy the sun, what a rare sight! Some of the cars were built over 60 years ago, but they look very well kept by the owners. I was more interested in those than the recent machines that are all over the streets.
Relatively smaller turnout than other events, but still a good showing. About two-thirds of the go-kart track were used, so it was a very technical course for the drivers. Unlike the Evergreen Speedway, the fans could watch the action up close.
The long-awaited gymkhana edition of the rally-focused game. Featuring a lot of hooning.
All the drivers were really putting on a great show! Getting REALLY close to the wall and what looked like inches away from each other throughout the run and in transitions. In pushing harder, of course the mayhem comes inevitably with crashes and car body parts strewn about. The crowd was really getting into it, and some of the drivers and crew were even in the stands watching too. It felt even more popular this year than previously, just looking at the wave of people all over the pit area, almost like a street festival. Daijiro Yoshihara eventually won out after watching a lot of close battles throughout the tournament.
